Yes, In India it was predominantly men that practised yoga until very recently.  Only in north america has it been predominantly women.  It is changing, when I started yoga 10 years ago I was usually the only male in the class, now there are usually several males.  Men are realising how much yoga will help them be more successful in other activities, golf, baseball, hockey, soccer, martial arts, running and football.

Absolutely not, yoga can be beneficial at any age.  It helps to maintain or create a full range of motion in your joints.  Yoga also keeps your lungs healthy by premoting full breathing, and increasing strength through movement both of which  help in decreasing stress.  Always consult your physician before starting a new exercise of any type.
